Hotel Review: Dan Accadia, Herzliya, Israel

704

The Dan Accadia has an appealing central location on a cliff top in Herzliya – a town famed for its high-tech credentials – right on the seafront. It’s only 26 minutes away from the feisty charms of the city of Tel Aviv where Ben Gurion airport is located and a 90-minute drive to Jerusalem. So it makes a good base.

On par are the amazing vistas. The views, whether sitting atop a bike in the gym or by the pool, are mostly overlooking soft-sand beaches and to top it all is that the hotel entrance is literally steps away from what seems to be an infinite shoreline.

Inside it has a bright and breezy vibe thanks to sunny hues and lots of space. The idea behind the bedroom decor is to give a bright, young, colourful, Mediterranean look.

Who for

Herzliya is famously home to high-tech companies and travelling business people are catered for, while families with young kids may appreciate Danniland, a kids’ club. There’s plenty of space here and romance is easily inspired within the walls of this elegant clifftop hotel and of course those amazing sea views. This hotel is for everyone.

Accommodation

Deluxe view room

Deluxe view room

The sprawling hotel has 117 rooms and suites made up of seven variations with views over the sea, the gardens or the pool. Beds are king-size and depending on your room you can actually see the sea without emerging from beneath your covers.

The garden chalet rooms are particularly luxurious. They are large, comfortable and come with all mod cons. They have private gardens and a private Jacuzzi too.

Food and Drink

Even if you are not a breakfast person, do not miss the breakfast buffet. It is served in the Exodus room by the lobby. It’s a huge spread with cheeses, fish and specialities of the middle east such as halva as well an abundance of different styles of salads.

A buffet lunch with grilled meats is served in the poolside restaurant. This is a kosher hotel which means milk and meat are never mixed and there is no sign of pork or bacon. But, you won’t miss it because there’s plenty to choose from.  Nearby is a juice bar serving milkshakes, ice-creams and hot drinks too.

You can also grab a bite from the lobby menu in The Lobby Coffee Shop of salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, and pastries or just tapas.

Accad Bar

Accad Bar

The wine bar cum restaurant is a cosy, dimly-lit area where the theme is all about food and wine pairings. Trust the sommelier to make suggestions from the selection of Israeli wines alongside a menu of dishes adapted especially to accompany speciality wines. Grape-based tipples such as brandy, cognac or grappa jostle for attention and theirs is a selection of sought-after kiln-manufactured drinks produced by Israeli boutique distilleries. It makes for an interesting theatre of tastes and flavours.

The swimming pool is surrounded by verdant gardens and is heated. Attached to it is a partially covered children’s pool that offers protection from the sun. There’s plenty of space so you won’t feel cramped when you take your place on your sunbed. Towels are supplied and if you want a change of scene, you can take yours to the beach.

To complete the pamper scene there’s a spa with a sauna, treatment rooms and a well-fitted out gym – imagine a workout with a sea view. Six tennis courts are flood-lit after sundown.
